Electrification

The electrification scheme as Gondal dates back to 1924. Its began with 200 h. p. as its generating capacity. In about 5 years, the load, particularly the industrial load, has developed to such an extent that to cope with it, three more engines had to be ordered. The present total capacity as completed is 1300 h. p. To accommodate these units the power house had to be extended.

The supply is distributed by underground cables throughout the whole system, not an inch being overhead.

The town of Upleta is provided with similar electrification. The population of Upleta is only 13,000 and it is very rare in India to find a town with such a population to have such electrical amenity.

A similar scheme for Dhoraji is taken in hand.

Villages in the vicinity of these towns will have electrical facilities in a short time.

The total cost of these schemes will be about Rs. 25,00,000.
