Protection
Kathiawad being split
up in innumerable jurisdictions and being the adobe of many of the
fighting and robber classes, border land forms the most expensive
and important item of Police protection and in Gondal the richness
of the villages offers an additional attraction.
In the matter of
protection, the din of the dacoit and the outlaw which was heard so
often in the eighties of the last century and which still lingers in
some parts of the country, is not audible in Gondal territory. The
Police expenditure has gone up to Rs. 1,95,000 in 1932 against
86,815 per year during His Highness’ minority.
